100 Mile House HIV/AIDS Awareness Walk successful

Canim Lake Band elder Antoinette Archie

The Canim Lake Band HIV/AIDS Awareness Walk on 23rd September was once again very successful.

Based at the White Feather Family Centre, the annual gathering raises awareness and provides educational information together with the Circle of Life (Tsqlexes re wumec) HIV/AIDS Support Group.

Circle of Life member Gail Orr says the event was well attended. "It was a great turnout; about 75 people came. It was a gorgeous day and everyone was carrying red balloons."

Guest speaker Denise Archie captured the group's interest and attention with her speech and stories, Orr says.

Eliza Archie Memorial School students performed some great drumming that entertained the crowd, she adds, and everyone also enjoyed the giant cake and refreshments served.

The Circle of Life group welcomes new members. Folks who are interested can call 250-397-2717 for more information.
