BCCfE Treatment as Prevention

BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS

Treatment as Prevention (TasP) is a grassroots program developed by the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS which has progressed into an internationally adopted initiative for the treatment and prevention of HIV/AIDS.

TasP is a novel concept which establishes that by providing active antiretroviral (HAART) treatment for people living with HIV earlier, it can reduce the viral load to undetectable levels thereby reducing transmission of HIV.

STOP HIV/AIDS is a pilot program of TasP, focused on making HAART more accessible to BC’s most at-risk populations.
