Community Representation and Engagement
POSITIVE LIVING BC's political action and advocacy is directed through the Community Representation and Engagement (CRE) Committee.
CRE Mandate
To advocate and educate at various levels of government and industry to help shape policies that address the needs of HIV+ people.
The Committee
The CRE Committee meets bi-weekly to discuss, assess and strategize political, bureaucratic, medical and scientific issues that are relevant and impact people living with HIV, their families and their communities at all levels including municipal, regional, provincial, national and global. The CRE Committee prioritizes issues and concerns, sets outcome targets and goals, determines a preferred plan of action and assigns primary responsibility to a volunteer, member or staff person who reports back at each meeting.
Committee Operations
The CRE Standing Committee is attended by members of the Board of Directors as well as other interested Members and volunteers. Only POSITIVE LIVING BC Full Members can become voting members of the CRE Standing Committee. A member needs to attend three consecutive meetings and be nominated by a member in good standing at the third meeting. Voting status is lost if the member misses three of the last six consecutive meetings without regrets. This process then starts from the beginning to re-establish voting privileges.
If you would like to attend a CRE Committee meeting, please call 604.646.5309 for more information.
