For people living with HIV, access to an Registered Dietitian has been associated with improved outcomes related to weight , CD4 count and quality of life. Good nutrition can also help prevent chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and cancer, and also help manage HIV symptoms and medication side effects.

Registered Dietitians are regulated health professionals uniquely trained to advise on diet, food and nutrition. They provide nutrition expertise including nutrition assessment, diet modification and individual or group counselling designed to achieve nutritional goals and health outcomes (e.g. improved blood glucose levels, improved blood lipid levels, etc).
